Inspiring design that tells a story

Innovative solutions for every day living are some of the aspirations of Rene Jansen Furniture. With extensive hands on experience in design, producing a contemporary range of tubular and timber furniture is proving to be an exciting adventure. As a small manufacturer of handcrafted pieces located at the foothills of the Waitakere ranges we are able to work in a sustainable fashion using materials that are largely sourced locally. This basically means that we can offer our customers a unique product. While our range can be classified as modern, they have their roots firmly based on contributions of a broader design aesthetic. We are committed to carry on a design philosophy that has a special place in the NZ way of life with a range of handcrafted artisan furniture that has a timeless character .We welcome all your enquiries, you can reach us by email through our contact page or visit us in our studio in Oratia which is open on Saturdays from 10 till 3 or by appointment.

Our lounge chairs are exceptional, they are made with great dedication and love for detail. Every single chair is unique in that we can customise the design to a great extent which gives every piece of furniture a distinctive feel. The tubular frame can be painted in a variety of colours, we can alter the shape of the arm rests and we can offer a variety of fabrics in a variety of colours. We largely source our materials locally and fabricate the finished product in our studio workshop in Oratia in the Waitakeres , west of Auckland.

We would love to show you our furniture range at

our studio in Oratia.

About Rene Jansen

Rene came to New Zealand at the age of 23 from the Netherlands and after various educational endeavours in furniture making, textiles and visual arts he embarked on producing and designing furniture and sculptural work. He ran a furniture making business for around twelve years mainly producing a range of solid wood furniture. After selling that business he spent a year renovating a large old farm house in Northern France.

However he missed New Zealand and after some more study he stayed three years at the Corbans Art centre producing relief sculptures. He has exhibited his work in a number of galleries and in group shows. His love for designing furniture however has brought him full circle with his latest venture making tubular and timber furniture as well as a range of farmhouse tables.
