On the right is one of our Oak Farmhouse extension tables made for a couple in Point Chev. The brief entailed an area adjacent to an open kitchen for dining for the family but also for entertaining guests. We decided that a table in the size 1800 x 850 would work well in this modern space and with two extensions 400 deep the table would be big enough to seat 8 comfortably. The rich tone of the stain gives the room character and depth and is a welcome addition to the white painted walls.

This Large dining table was commissioned recently. The base has been constructed from Oak while the Top surface is made from Zink with two ceramic tile inlays.

The couple who ordered this large table had seen a similar design overseas and were keen to find out if it could be made here in New Zealand.

While I was keen to take on this challenge I also realised that it would take determination and skill to bring this project to a good outcome.

Size of this table is 2830 x 1100

The zink top surface has been treated with copper sulphate to get a distinct marbled effect.

The base was stained to compliment some of the elements that can be found in other parts of the house.

The table on the right with its tapered legs and medium warm tone finish is a typically French inspired design and suits a variety of settings.

The grain of the oak comes alive with a darker finish and adds to the character of these tables.

A retired couple from Blockhouse bay, Rhonda and Des, visited my studio as they were renovating their kitchen and were looking for an Oak farmhouse table to compliment the setting.

They liked our existing design but requested an additional diagonal stretcher which they had seen elsewhere.

They opted for a light but warm stain which they also wanted to use for some joinery in the kitchen and which we were able to supply them with.
