I have always had a fascination with polished aluminium used in the aeronautics industry. So when I acquired four mid century chairs I set out designing a table that would do justice to both the chairs as well as my imagination.
All the aluminium components for this project had to be hand polished, a technique that I mastered in the process. Oak timber is sandwiched between two layers to make the legs while special fasteners are used to keep the oak firmly in place.
Two pieces of granite are incorporated in the oak table top to add a point of difference while the side rails are kept narrow to accentuate a floating element.
What often happens is that one piece of furniture in a certain style leads to another that complements it.
Three legged chairs have always conjured up a certain emotion on the part of the onlooker, they can look uncomfortable or even unsafe but they are certainly in a leaque of there own. Pushing the boundaries can be such a wonderfull thing.
Certain components have been kept similar to the above table while others have been altered, some of the fasteners for this project are definitely of an industrial nature while the warm tones of the stained oak gives a more forgiving aspect.
The Oak is stained in a dark tone which contrasts against the alloy and ties in with the granite. The size of this table is 1800 x 900
